National
Standard Treatment Guidelines (STGs) For HIV/AIDS
Clinical guidelines attempt to minimise on ineffective
interventions, waste of resources as well as
harm to patients. Standard treatment guidelines
when developed using scientific evidence, are
intended to lead to changes in clinical practice
that will improve outcomes for patients. The
need for HIV/AIDS care standard treatment guidelines
in health institutions is desperate.
HAQOCI is in the process of developing standard
treatment guidelines. Once the guidelines are
developed, it is envisaged that there will be
training on use of the STGs and therefore training
material will be developed for both the facilitators
and participants in collaboration with identified
partners.
